Vodafone Data Plans
The only plans available through Vodafone are monthly contract deals. Vodafone have decided (for the moment) not to offer any pay as you go data deals for the iPad. There are two contracts with Vodafone that offer a data deal on a month by month basis. First up is the Vodafone 1GB data deal - this will cost you £10 per month, however at 1GB we are not sure how much you would be able to use your iPad before your "credit" ran out. The better of the two packages is the Vodafone 5GB data deal - this will cost £25 per month with a much more respectable 5GB of data available. For a rather expensive £9.99 PER DAY, Vodafone are offering 50MB of data WHEN YOU TRAVEL ABROAD - hopefully you won't be away for too long at those prices! Please be aware that the Wi-Fi is not part of the Vodafone Data plans.
Orange Data Plans
Orange have decided to offer a pay as you go data plan. For every MB of data you use you will be charged 5p, which on the face of it looks reasonable. However when you start to look at relatively low usage (e.g. 1GB), then this would cost you £50 - five times the amount that Vodaphone are charging. The advantage is that if you use less than 200MB then this would be a cheaper option than the Vodaphone Sim Card deal. There is also a daily iPad usage scheme called The iPad Daily Scheme - this costs just £2 and allows you to use your iPad over a 24 hour period (measured from 12.00am until 12.00am) - the data usage is capped at 200MB. Finally there is the Weekly iPad Scheme - which gives you 1GB of data usage at a cost of £7.50. So this is cheaper than the Orange Deal for the same amount of data however you would need to be using this within the seven days.
Orange Data plans on a contract basis - these are iPad Monthly 15 (for £15 per month) and iPad Monthly 25 (for £25 per month). iPad Monthly 15 offers the user 3GB of data usage and unlimited usage of Wi-Fi on any BT openzone Wi-Fi connection. The iPad monthly 25 contract offers 10GB of data usage and the same Wi-Fi usage as the Monthly 15 plan.
O2 Data Plans
Similar to Orange, O2 are offering a mixture of pay as you go deals, and contract iPad deals. The microSIM deals are 500MB & unlimited Wi-Fi access for £2 per day - this is the only Pay As You Go deal at the moment. 1GB & unlimited Wi-Fi access will cost you £10 per month on a recurring basis, and the final deal is £15 per month for 3GB and unlimited Wi-Fi access.
